Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Lump Sum Estimator includes but is not limited to serving as the primary estimating contact on assigned projects and handling all aspects of estimating as needed. Communicate professionally with others while managing multiple projects and working accurately in a fast paced, high volume, detailed and deadline-oriented environment. Coordinate estimating of products and services by reviewing drawings and specifications. Must be able to read and interpret architectural drawings to quantify material requirements. Use electronic takeoff software such as Bluebeam or OST. Develop pricing using Excel. Create quotations that include project specific exclusions and qualifications using Word. Enlist feedback from outside sales force, engineering, outside vendors, and production. Coordinate scheduling priorities during daily meetings and assist teammates as needed. Ensure customers receive regular status updates and quotations are issued accurately and in a timely manner. Work with the project management team when quotations become an order. Attend kickoff meetings and provide change order pricing when applicable. Able to work scheduled/unscheduled overtime.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two-year associates degree.

  • Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings or other structures.
  • Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.


  • Preferences:

  • Minimum of 2 years estimating and/or pricing experience for exterior building products or steel buildings.
