Position Introduction
The Vassar Film Department is seeking a visiting assistant professor for the 2024/25 academic year to teach five courses in video production.

Position Description
This is a full-time position that offers competitive salary and benefits. Candidates must have experience teaching video production at the college level, preferably in the context of a liberal arts institution. An MFA degree is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach production courses from the introductory to the advanced level in modes from documentary, to experimental, to narrative. The ability to teach writing for the short film is preferred. All classes are taught in person. Candidates should be able to teach the full scope of video production from concept to final delivery, including the technical aspects of production (camera, sound, lighting) and post-production (using Adobe Premiere). We welcome applications from candidates in local communities, the Hudson Valley, or farther afield.


Salary Wage Range
Pay Transparency Disclosure: The annual base starting salary range for this full-time visiting position is $84,000 to $88,000 (USD). When extending an offer of employment, Vassar College considers factors such as (but not limited to) candidate’s education/training, work experience, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations. This salary range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting.
