Leadership Opportunity

Marist College seeks a new Vice President of Student Affairs (VPSA) to join the President's Advisory Committee (PAC) and Cabinet, working closely with other members of senior leadership and the College's board of trustees to fulfill the ambitions of the College's strategic plan Marist 100. With a specific focus on student centrality, one of the three pillars of the plan, the VPSA will have the opportunity to build upon the department's strong commitment to students and drive the development and enhancement of the function so that all students have a truly distinctive experience at the College and benefit from best-in-class facilities, services, and activities that engage and develop the whole person and promote health, well-being, and overall success. Located on the banks of the historic Hudson River and at its Florence, Italy campus, Marist College combines the power of a global university with the tradition of a leading liberal arts college.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate will bring significant leadership experience within student affairs: a demonstrated ability to identify and execute on opportunities to improve the student experience, including fostering and advancing inclusion and belonging; a record of collaborating effectively with campus stakeholders in the service of creating better outcomes for students; capacity to manage organizational change; dedication to student success and fostering a student-centered culture; the ability to engage others in developing and implementing a vision for student affairs; and an equity mindset and demonstrated success with equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts. The VPSA will foster an inclusive, dynamic, and collaborative environment for more than 6,000 students (5,575 undergraduates and 989 full- and part-time graduate students).

The VPSA will lead a dedicated team of eight (8) direct reports, while managing key relationships with the Board of Trustees, President's Advisory Council, and student government.

Candidates with diverse professional experiences will be considered, although ideal candidates will have many of the following experiences and leadership capabilities:

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs: a robust understanding of the evolving dynamics within higher education as well as experience with strategic planning and policy development

Demonstrated Success in Fostering Student Development and Success: A track record of improving and/or aligning services and programs to meet the evolving needs of students.

Experience leading a multi-functional team: Proven ability to recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing team.

Ability to Build Strong Relationships and Partnerships Across an Institution: A record of partnering with key campus stakeholders to enhance the student experience and support strong outcomes for students.

Proven Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging: Adeptness in creating an environment where diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are not only prioritized but integral to student experiences.

Academic Credentials: Master's degree in a relevant field; doctorate preferred.
