Test Engineer

Job Summary & Job Duties

Reporting to the Technical Engineering Manager, the Test Engineer is responsible for the development of test machines and test requirements in collaboration with customers, designing and overseeing appropriate test setup, conducting tests and gathering and reporting data to necessary members of the Engineering department. The Test Engineer may also direct Test Technician efforts under the direction of the Technical Engineering Manager.

  • Design, build, and/or specify machines, components, tooling and fixtures to Engineer specifications. Operate and program test machinery and equipment needed to run test.
  • Act in the position of Test Technician, when required, to fulfill objectives of STEMCO Engineering.
  • Assist technician with mechanical and electronic test setup and teardown, including calibration.
  • Maintain lab supplies and materials to appropriate quantities for rapid test execution.
  • Design & manufacture test tooling to ensure rapid test setup and tooling availability.
  • Oversee Technician calibrations to meet ISSO standards and requirements.
  • Consult with the customer (Engineer) in reviewing test requests to formally document test requirements, plans and procedures.
  • Perform data reduction, including verification of data quality/accuracy and reporting of data to customer.
  • Repair and maintenance of test equipment including working with 480 VAC.
  • Work with manufacturing and engineering to resolve machine downtime, training and continuous improvements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related degree or a combination of equivalent certification and experience
  • 5-7 years minimum previous Engineering Test Lab experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including both verbal and written communication.
  • Minimum 2 years of developing specifications and proposals and presenting them effectively within the organization.
  • Able to work dynamically in a cross-functional environment.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and controls including operational theory, selection, and practical use.
  • Experience with documentation generation: test requests, test reports, data reduction
  • Experience with computer programming, for example: Visual Basic, C, HMI, SCADA, and PLC.
  • Familiarity with electrical circuit design.
  • Strong capabilities with Microsoft Office 365 software
