Job Description:
This position works under the direction of the Park Superintendent. Carries out tasks and duties related to park ground maintenance including working with trees, snow removal, weed control, etc. Assist as needed with Park Activities, Special Events and coordination of Volunteer Groups. Supervise and carry out various operating tasks involved in traffic control, emergency response, recreation program operation, campground and picnic area operation and maintenance, accident prevention. Assist in Customer service capacities as needed. Assist in the hiring, training and supervision of a seasonal workforce. Publicize park areas and the Divisions mission, program and goals by means of personal appearance before interested groups. Assist in handling administrative and data collections functions. Maintain records and prepare appropriate reports. Perform related work as required.

Ability to plan, manage, analyze and evaluate park programs. Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and application of park and cultural resources management and conservation. Knowledge of departmental rules and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain community and public relations with business, special interest groups, and state, local and federal agencies. Knowledge of park operations, administration and financial management. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to supervise subordinate staff and to enforce park rules and regulations. Knowledge or ability to get CPO and lifeguard certification.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND one year related experience. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

OTHER: Driver's license is required
