Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:

 2+ years audio/visual system integration experience and knowledge.
 General understanding of modern audio/visual control systems, networking, and communication protocols.
 Basic Mac and PC computer hardware and software knowledge.
 Must show effective written and oral communication skills.
 Must currently maintain a valid ANSI/ISO General CTS Certification, or have the ability to obtain this certification within 6 months of employment.
 Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

 3+ years experience installing and supporting audio/visual systems in a higher education environment.
 Currently maintains a valid ANSI/ISO CTS-D (Design) Certification or has the ability to obtain this certification while on the job.
 Experience using AutoDesk software, primarily AutoCAD LT, or similar.
 Knowledge of how to read and write technical documents, including device manuals, wiring diagrams, architectural construction plans, etc.
 Knowledge of A/V design principles and general construction standards.
 Knowledge of A/V control systems and device configuration.
 Knowledge of Zoom and/or other video conferencing applications.

Job Description:

The Learning Spaces department is looking for a highly motivated individual with moderate A/V experience to serve as a TIS I (Technology Integration Specialist) with a specialty in A/V systems design. As an entry-level design position, it is important for the applicant to meet the TIS I general requirements and have the potential and desire to learn on the job and grow into the A/V Designer role. This position has a great opportunity for advancement within the department, and any previous design or drafting experience is a plus!

The candidate should have a working knowledge of audio, visual, computing, and control technologies and how they work together in a classroom/presentation environment. They should be able to keep accurate inventory and data records, as well as produce detailed documentation for audio/visual systems installation. The ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, is of utmost importance. The candidate should be capable of maintaining a professional appearance, setting priorities, and moving several tasks forward simultaneously with only moderate direction. Knowledge of Extron products and control systems is preferred, as is CTS or CTS-D certification.

Job Duties:

A/V Designer Duties (approx. 80% of job):
1.Meet with clients to determine audio/visual requirements for projects. Take the requirements and produce a functional specification document for the client to review and sign.
2.Create wiring diagrams (schematic design) and cable schedules for projects using AutoCAD LT.
3.Create architectural drawings such as floor plans, RCPs, and installation details, and identify what infrastructure is needed to support the technology design.
4.Create design proposals (parts lists) for projects using the internal FileMaker database platform. This includes which equipment is used, who it's purchased from, how much it costs, and final infrastructure requirements for the project.
5.Attend construction meetings, inspections, and site-walks to check on project progress, infrastructure requirements, and provide guidance to facilities contacts.
6.Stay abreast of new technologies.

General TIS I Duties (approx. 20% of job):
1.Tier 2 phone and in-person support of audio/visual/computing technologies in learning space environments.
2.Physical installation of audio/visual technologies and computer systems.
3.Computer/software installation and configuration.
4.Routine maintenance of audio/visual and computing technologies.
5.Provide training on audio/visual/computing systems.
6.Inventory control duties.
7.Administrative duties.
8.Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information to Applicants:

This position (SPS) is a non-permanent, benefits eligible position for one year and is subject to renewal.
