Aerospace Coating and Thermal Protection Specialist
Job Summary

We're seeking a passionate individual to join our team as an Aerospace Coating and Thermal Protection Specialist. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and performance of New Glenn vehicles. If you're excited about space exploration and have experience in surface preparation, painting, and thermal protection systems (TPS), we'd love to hear from you!
Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation and Application: Prepare surfaces and apply polyurethane or epoxy-based paints using conventional or HVLP spray guns.
• Foam Insulation Application: Perform hand and spray-on applications of foam insulation onto flight hardware.
• Design Application: Apply logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces based on specifications.
• Thermal Protection Systems (TPS): Apply TPS materials to New Glenn flight hardware.
• Structural Work: Assist with surface preparation, adhesive application, gap filling, and vacuum bagging of large structures.
• Safety and Quality: Adhere to safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Product Inspection: Check completed products for conformance to specifications.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in aerospace coating and thermal protection applications.
• Expertise: Familiarity with primer/topcoat spray-out, foam insulation applications, sealant bonding, and other special finishes.
• Safety Conscious: Knowledge of safety procedures for handling chemicals.
• Certification: Ability to be respirator qualified.
• Collaborative: Work well in diverse teams and dynamic environments.
• Technical Skills: Interpret engineering models, drawings, and written instructions.
• Computer Literacy: Basic skills in Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Physical Abilities: Climb ladders/stairs, lift heavy items (>50 lbs).

Desired Qualifications

• Advanced Experience: 5+ years working with aerospace thermal protection systems or coatings.
• Certifications: Industry certifications or trade school training.
• Leadership: Demonstrated success as a hands-on technical leader.
• Continuous Improvement: Embrace a mindset of ongoing refinement.
• Curiosity: Intense interest in understanding business details and optimization.
• Large Components: Experience handling large aerospace components.
• Precision Work: Assembling large tight-tolerance structures.
• Lean Manufacturing: Familiarity with Lean principles and Six Sigma certification.
