Quality Control Supervisor

Role description:

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for supervising the quality functions and personnel to ensure compliance with customer requirements and company specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist and serve as back-up to the Quality Control Manager as directed
  • Interpret quality specifications and communicate to all applicable departments
  • Maintain all pertinent records to adequately monitor quality performance and standards
  • Review customer complaints with plant department to ensure corrective action measures are applied to prevent reoccurrence
  • Supervise ware audits and report findings along with recommended corrective action plans.
  • Interact with customers and customer service representative to solve problems and foster strong customer relations
  • Oversee quality lab equipment calibrations and maintenance
  • Manage lab supply inventory and ordering
  • Manage the measuring of glass containers and provide reports
  • Perform activities necessary for the effective management of the quality department by training and developing unionized workforce
  • Establish and maintain a safe, sustainable, and healthy work environment
  • Comply with environmental and food safety standards as set forth in plant policies and programs within the departmental responsibilities

Minimum skills / qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in manufacturing quality
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a team-based environment
  • Must have excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills to interact effectively with management and outside customers
  • Must have excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred skills / qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in math, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Two years of experience leading in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience working with SAP ERP
  • Prior experience working with a quality management system
  • Prior experience working in the glass container manufacturing environment
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
