Position OverviewMaintenance & cleaning of various facilities housed within KU Recreation Services (Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center, Shenk Sport Field Complex, and Stewart Ave. Property). In addition, duties will include maintenance and set-up of various pieces of sport equipment. Must have a current/valid driver's license. Each assistant must be certified in CPR/AED or become certified within one month of appointment. General Responsibilities and Expectations
Complete all duties assigned by maintenance staff.Maintain effective and appropriate communication with participants, guests, co-workers, and administration.Attend all scheduled meetings and work-shifts on time, while being ready to learn while at work.Act with personal responsibility.Implementation of risk management procedures and protocols when necessary.Perform various maintenance duties to ensure the quality and safety of equipment for guests at the ASRFC.Maintenance and Cleaning Duties
Performs custodial duties such as sweeping, moping, and vacuuming floors and stairs; washes walls and windows; empties trash; cleans bathroom walls, dusting, floors and fixtures; cleans light covers; cleans upholstery and carpet.Operates equipment such as, power sprayers, upholstery cleaning machines, and small power tools. Sets up furniture and equipment. Assist in cleaning and keeping building entrances clean of snow, dust and trash by using snow shovels. Special Events
Be available (during open hours and after hours) to staff any and all Special Events in the building as assigned or scheduled.Assist with event set up and tear down.Fill out special event reports with detailed information.Collect special event waivers. Risk Management
Ensure a safe environment exists for participants through preventative supervision.Recognize safety hazards which may cause injury: warn equipment, slippery floors, or other conditions.Familiar with effective decision-making techniques in dealing with accidents.Recognize indicators of risk through equipment maintenance.Reporting of accidents, injuries and emergency situations.Initial and complete all tasks and responsibilities listed on scheduled shift.Emergency First Responder
- Know and be able to implement all Risk Management protocol.
- Direct all KU Recreation Services staff as needed.
Required Qualifications
Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at the University of KansasAvailable to work at different times throughout the whole day (early mornings, afternoons, evenings)Works well with others and is able to follow instructions as evident of the application materialPreferred Qualifications
