What we need:

This position plans and directs finance and accounting activities in support of laminate manufacturing in Flooring North America Segment of Mohawk, with focus on cost, capex and inventory accountabilities. Leads two laminate plants (Garner, NC and Thomasville, NC), assists with preparation of key metrics, presentations and reporting for the operations leadership team, and identifies opportunity for process improvement. Also assists in leading strategic plan and budgetary processes by preparing all-inclusive analyses showing cost evolution based on the latest trends. Works with Director of Manufacturing Finance on complex financial analysis that drives productivity initiatives, capital investment, and enhanced business partnership.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborates directly with plant senior management preparing annual budgets and reports that summarize plant business activity and drive action. Partners with leadership on setting key metrics to enhance business performance and drive ownership of plant cost.
  • Manages and develops a team, enhancing overall bench strength through cross training, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and thinking strategically about opportunities for growth. Sets goals and targets for the team in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Creates and implements processes and tools used in financial planning. Assists with leading strategic planning, annual planning, and quarterly forecasting efforts. Leads review sessions for annual operating plan/cost rolls and forecast with senior business unit management and senior finance leadership.
  • Leads and directs the financial close and standard cost roll for the two laminate plants. Collaborates with other plant finance leads for knowledge sharing and process alignment. Ensures plant accounting policies and procedures are aligned with corporate policy and U.S. GAAP and identifies opportunities for control improvement.
  • Acts as a leader to a professional team and works cross functionally with department managers incorporating key priorities for assigned business units and the total company. Thinks strategically, can see the big picture, and come up with creative solutions to problem solving. Fosters an environment of shared learning, organized and balanced workflow, and ensures proper documentation of business processes/SOPs.

What you have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration. Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred.
  • CPA/CMA certification is preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least 2 years finance/accounting leadership experience. Previous management experience preferred.
  • Cost Accounting experience in a plant setting required.

  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and present information to a variety of audiences. Strong presentation skills, with the ability to influence top management.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate solid time management and organizational skills, including the ability to meet tight deadlines and schedules.
  • Strong leadership skills
