Compensation Range
Annual Salary: $69,500.00 - $82,000.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The Small Business Banking Specialist solicits new business opportunities as well as expansion of small business relationships with targeted prospects and existing customers within an assigned territory. Although it can vary by market, targeted companies generally include those with annual sales up to $5MM.

Essential Functions

• Participate in calling activities with targeted prospects and customers with the objective to acquire new business and expand existing relationships
  
• Responsible for adding value to prospects/clients across a full range of products and services, including lending, deposit, and payment products/services
  
• Establish/manage a referral network of Centers-of Influence (COI's)
  
• Serve as the primary advisor for an assigned portfolio of diverse and complex small business commercial relationships, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and retention
  
• Facilitate credit requests, including loan structuring, negotiating/pricing, collateral, ensuring adequate loan documentation, and analyzing industry/credit risk
  
• Facilitate the resolution of customer problems within the assigned portfolio, engaging product experts as needed
  
• Participate in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the Bank and to establish referral contacts within the marketplace
  
• Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
  
• Establish a referral network with COI's: New Business Development and Branch Enablement/Existing Customer Growth
  
• Perform other duties as assigned
  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Basic knowledge of full range of commercial products, credit policies, procedures and terminology
  
• Basic strategic, analytical, problem-solving skills and credit analysis skills
  
• Basic persuasive and negotiation skills with strong sales skills
  
• Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and meet Commerce Bank's driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements
  
• Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  
• Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  
• Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
  
• Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  
• 2+ years of commercial banking experience required

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $69,500 to $82,000 annually. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
