Senior Scientist: Medical Device Microbiology

Employee Responsibilities:

Perform special gowning and applicable safety procedures as required (when working in clean rooms, rooms containing hazardous materials or areas requiring use of respirators or other specialized protective equipment) when performing EM/water collection functions

Basic understanding of principals of instrumentation, operations, methods, etc.

• Learn and be qualified on routine tests

• Once trained, perform routine analyses, including routine maintenance and calibration of instruments with minimal supervision

• Document all work accurately, clearly and correctly, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Enter, calculate, review, evaluate, and verify data, as required

• Assist more senior levels as needed in larger projects or tests, guide and mentor junior staff

• Learn, understand, and work within the Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories IT systems and processes

• Perform laboratory work on weekends and holidays on a rotating basis with other members of the department

The Ideal Candidate would possess:

  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
  • Previous experience (2-5 years) in microbiology testing medical device or raw materials for Sterility, Endotoxin, Bioburden, Growth Promotion, and/or Environmental Monitoring of a clean room preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or other related degree concentration, and at least one-2 years related experience
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
