POSITION: SENIOR PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT

LOCATION: BEDFORD HEIGHTS, OH-HYBRID ROLE

We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join a thriving commercial real estate company! This is a hybrid position located in Bedford Heights OH. They work 3 days in office and 2 days remote. They also have half day Friday's all year long! he Property Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the financial management and reporting of our real estate portfolio. This position requires a solid foundation in property accounting, a keen eye for accuracy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring precise financial data, conducting analyses, and contributing to the overall success of our property accounting operations.

DUTIES:

  • Maintain precise and current financial records for our property portfolio, including recording transactions, processing invoices, and reconciling accounts to uphold data accuracy.
  • Assist in producing timely and precise financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Collaborate with the property accounting team to analyze differences and offer insights.
  • Track property-related expenses, including utilities, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring accurate allocation in line with budgetary guidelines.
  • Support lease accounting procedures by monitoring lease terms, rent payments, and maintenance obligations.
  • Aid in developing property budgets and forecasts in partnership with property management and finance teams. Monitor actual performance against budgeted expectations.
  • Conduct monthly bank and account reconciliations to detect and rectify discrepancies, investigating and resolving inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate closely with property managers, asset managers, and other departments to gather pertinent financial data and offer assistance as required.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist with audit processes and inquiries from auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Continuously assess and enhance property accounting processes for efficiency and accuracy, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and improve data quality.
  • Utilize property management and accounting software to process transactions and maintain financial records, leveraging technology to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Clearly and succinctly communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, providing support in interpreting financial results and trends
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in property accounting or related financial roles
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with MRI property management and accounting software and Spreadsheet Server is a plus.
