About this opportunity
Cenovus Energy is looking for a Senior Maintenance Manager located in Superior, WI. The Senior Maintenance Manager is accountable for leading and managing all aspects of the execution of a safe, cost-effective maintenance service for Cenovus SRC; making effective maintenance a key factor in meeting the overall Refinery objectives including production, cost efficiency, safety, and environmental performance. This individual will also be the Cenovus Superior Refining Company (SRC) leader accountable for implementing elements of the Cenovus Operations Integrity Management System (COIMS).

What you'll do:

  • Lead the Maintenance team, including strategic planning, directing, and development of salary and hourly craft employees at the Superior Refinery.
  • Manage the maintenance workforce consisting of Cenovus employees (salaried and union employees) and contractors. Ensure that all employee issues are addressed in a timely fashion in accordance with corporate standards, policies, and procedures. Monitor, develop, and maintain a high level of employee morale in a participative team environment to ensure continuous improvements in work execution efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Conduct and coordinate performance management and salary administration for all department staff. Recommend and approve hiring, training, discipline, and dismissal of both Cenovus and contractor personnel as required.
  • Assure appropriate organizational capability is maintained through recruitment, personnel development, and succession planning for the department.
  • Maintain the interface of the Maintenance organization with the various other departments required to deliver the operational plan. Has a direct impact and oversight of site improvements and decisions made by maintenance strategies, prioritization, annual results, and overall effectiveness.
  • Ensure development of preventative and predictive maintenance programs as well as improvement programs that will improve the overall Reliability of the refinery.
  • Work with local labor on agreements and ensures compliance and execution of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Assess the performance of the Maintenance process, identifies inefficiencies, and takes the necessary step(s) to correct them.
  • Develop and nurture vendor and contractor relationships in support of Maintenance activities.
  • Lead the implementation of assigned COIMS elements.
  • Effectively manage outside Service Company contracts.
  • Provide the leadership, planning, coordination, organization, and control for all Maintenance Department activities. Ensure development, continuous improvement and administration of a wide range of policies, procedures and programs to ensure the safe and effective execution of maintenance at SRC.
  • Develop, monitor and administer the annual maintenance budget; prepare long-range plans.
  • Assist in HAZOPs, MOC's, Incident Investigations, and Job Safety Analysis. Identify and assess safety hazards in particularly around asset integrity and reliability.

Who you are:
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the USA.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • 10+ years' experience in the execution of field maintenance or operations in the petroleum industry
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning, resource allocation, and execution practices
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, science, or related field
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills (written and oral), excellent budget, cost control, and business knowledge, and demonstrated leadership skills on a departmental basis.
  • Proficient with MS Office Applications
  • SAP Experience or other Business Enterprise Software
