Who are we looking for?

GHD is growing! Our U.S. West offices have a strong backlog of projects. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to work from one of the following office locations: Irvine, CA, San Diego, CA, Roseville, CA, or Santa Rosa, CA.

This position offers great variety of projects and the opportunity in a lead and support a variety of electrical projects, including power generation, distribution, and utilization systems required for waterworks, industrial, and environmental projects.

Responsibilities of the position will include, but be not limited to:

  • Technical lead in electrical engineering on a variety of projects, including federal, municipal and private.
  • Managing the delivery of electrical reports, plans, specifications, and calculations.
  • Leading the preparation of proposals and bids for projects.
  • Managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Coordinate and work with cross-discipline teams on other market sector projects.
  • Serving as a Technical Lead to provide electrical engineering support for projects to other regions (including internationally).
  • Providing technical QA/QC on multiple projects.
  • Staying ahead of technical qualifications and licenses.
  • Coordinating the work of the team, mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Providing creative solutions to fit the needs of our clients and communities.
The Ideal candidate would have the following skills:
  • Excellence at all stages of the project life-cycle, including preparing project scope and fee proposals, writing feasibility studies, preparing basis of design reports, consulting, developing detailed design drawings and specifications, developing budgetary construction cost estimates, and providing construction support, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience delivering projects using Autocad and Revit.
  • Experience in low and medium voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, backup power systems, uninterruptible power systems, and audio/visual systems.
  • Experience with instrumentation and control system design.
  • Experience leading multi-discipline teams - e.g. architects, civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation engineers.
  • Experience working with federal and local government clients.
  • Experience working with the Uniform Facilities Criteria (UFC) and other Department of Defense engineering requirements.
  • Experience working with the International Electrical Code and the National Electrical Code.
  • Experience with lighting controls and California energy code is preferred.
  • Experience delivering projects using power systems simulation software such as SKM Powertools, ETAP, or PSS is considered a plus.
  • Experience with the LEED green building certification system.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able and willing to travel to project job sites and client offices as needed.
  • High ethical standards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an ABET accredited school in Electrical Engineering or similar degree.
  • Registered Electrical Professional Engineer in California. Registration in additional States is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional consulting engineering experience with exposure to defense, water/wastewater, waterfront, architectural, industrial, or related projects.

Salary Range: $108,000-$163,000 based on experience and location
