GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Summarize the nature and level of work performed.

The Security Systems Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees within Public Safety Operations by overseeing the coordination, integration, implementation, and management of automated security, parking, and building management systems. Reporting to the Director of Public Safety or an assigned representative, this position is instrumental in maintaining a secure environment, in alignment with the institution's core values and mission.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Director of Public Safety Operations or designee to be the hospital point of contact with vendors.

• Work closely with the Director of Public Safety Operations or designee to design physical security systems that foster a safe and secure environment for patients, employees, and visitors while on hospital property.

• Work with the Director or their designee to prepare an annual technology budget and review service agreements, while coordinating any other services as needed.

Project Management:

• Manage and coordinate both new and ongoing projects, ensuring seamless integration with monitoring for PUBLIC SAFETY dispatch and operations.

• Oversee schedules and facilitate work performed by system integrators, locksmiths, contractors, and vendors, ensuring strict adherence to industry standards and best practices.

• Ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner.

Quality Assurance:

• Confirm that programming and testing of newly installed equipment are thoroughly completed by vendors before project closure.

Risk Assessment and Security Measures:

• Conduct security and risk assessments of areas, providing recommendations for electronic security measures as needed.

Identification Card System Oversight:

• Upgrade and audit existing AMAG Identification Card systems, delivering related services upon request.

Investigative Support:

• Assist in assigning and preparing investigative reports as requested by the Manager of Operations for PUBLIC SAFETY.

Collaboration and Training:

• Collaborate with other departments to identify system needs, including facilities management (locksmith), public safety, parking, transportation, and Dispatch Center services.

• Conduct training programs to enhance the professionalism of staff, coordinating programs with other medical center departments/divisions.

Documentation and Compliance:

• Review and maintain the security systems compliance documentation database, ensuring proper functioning.

• Generate audit reports and oversee the documenting of additions, upgrades to systems, and maintenance of existing systems.

QUALIFICATIONS: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in information technology preferred. Experience in the field will be considered.

• Ability to obtain and maintain Industry Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.

• Valid certification as an AMAG Symmetry System Manager at version 9.x.

• Valid certification as an Enterprise Manager utilizing the ExacqVision video platform.

• Current Massachusetts class "D" electrical license preferred.

• American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) PMP certification preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 - 10 years of progressively responsible experience in physical security and IT security software, programs, maintenance, service, and integration.

Knowledge and Skills:

Minimum of 5 - 10 years of system integration, project management, programming, supervising, and coordinating responsibilities for other integrators.

• Project/Process Management: Advanced

• Oral Communication Skills: Advanced

• Equipment Operation: Advanced

• Computer/Technical: Advanced

• Analytical Skills: Intermediate

• Writing Skills: Advanced

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)

- Must be able to walk within hospital and around hospital campus; to and from parking areas and buildings on premises in all weather conditions.

- Stand for long periods of time both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

- Lift, pull, and push as needed in the performance of job requirements.

HOSPITAL WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES: These are required of all staff, regardless of position. Do not remove these standards.

Works within legal, regulatory, accreditation and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by BWH/MGB; follows safe practices required for the position; complies with appropriate BWH and MGB policies and procedures; fulfills any training required by BWH and/or MGB, as appropriate; brings potential matters of non-compliance to the attention of the supervisor or other appropriate hospital staff.
