Role Definition

We are looking for an organized, self-starting leader to join our team as a 1st shift Section Manager at Building KK, in East Peoria, IL. This role is accountable for providing daily direction and organizational leadership for hourly associates as part of the Logistics Team. As a section manager, you will be leading a group of material handlers, line coordinators, and line checkers to drive improvements in a very dynamic and exciting work environment. This role will be accountable for a three-shift operation, and will help own value stream budgets, resource allocation, staffing strategies and relentless execution of our PQVC initiatives.

Job Duties

  • Creating reports and records of logistics processes and inventory; sharing them with managers and providing suggestions to improve safety, productivity, and quality.
  • Preparing, maintaining, and updating documentation related to logistics procedures as well as safety and quality standards; ensuring all processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards.
  • Supervising and directing the daily activities of material handlers, line coordinators, and line checkers, assigning tasks, ensuring coordination between different teams (including third-party logistics contractors), ensuring their safety and monitoring their performance.
  • Training new hires, managing scheduling and work conflicts, monitoring safety, and promoting internal communication to create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Skill Descriptors

Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
  • Breaks tasks into manageable steps that can be incorporated into a personal work plan.
  • Monitors progress continuously and adjusts tactics for handling situations on a case-by-case basis.
Logistics Operations: Knowledge of logistics functions; ability to perform day-to-day material handling and inventory tracking functions of a manufacturing plant.
  • Supervises daily operations to ensure production lines are supplied with materials needed.
  • Facilitates communications across departments to ensure a smooth workflow in the plant or facility.
Safety: Knowledge of material handling safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment, and site.
  • Promotes workplace safety among supervisors and workers; communicates safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures that all employees and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and regulations.
Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
  • Applies key aspects of continuous improvement processes and evaluates impact on quality.
  • Uses quality evaluation tools and techniques such as walkthroughs and inspections.
