Provide leadership and expertise in the areas of Enterprise Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Services with a focus on raw milk and support to the fluid Areas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead DFA's strategy for raw milk food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with Farm Practices and Area staff and serve as expert on federal, state, and regional raw milk food safety, quality, and regulatory matters
  • Collaborate with Area staff on customer-based testing programs and procedures and provide solutions to testing challenges
  • Collaborate with fluid area raw milk labs with regard to regulatory matters, promoting consistency and standardization in test methods and assisting in coordination of purchasing and capital expenditures
  • Lead DFA's participation in National Conference on Interstate Milk Shipments and Pasteurized Milk Ordinance change management related to raw milk and farm matters
  • Serve as DFA's expert in dairy farm and raw milk matters related to Pasteurized Milk Ordinance requirements
  • Serve as DFA's expert in all matters related to animal drug residue testing and other monitoring programs, including coordination of milk testing protocols and procedures
  • Lead DFA raw milk initiatives related to the Food Safety Modernization Act regulation compliance and partner with food safety and quality teams on raw milk area compliance
  • Partner with DFA manufacturing sites in resolving issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the raw milk supply chain
  • Develop and maintain relationships with agencies that regulate milk safety and quality
  • Represent DFA on industry committees related to raw milk safety, quality, and regulatory matters

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in dairy science, food science and technology, or other related field(s)
  • Advanced Degree preferred
  • 10+ years of raw milk regulatory experience
  • Familiarity with the NCIMS Conference
  • Multi-faceted understanding of the dairy industry to use this knowledge to develop and execute effective strategies related to the PMO, state, and FDA regulations
  • Certification and/or License - None
