Position Overview

This position is responsible for the assistant management of HMA paving projects and other related tasks by working alongside a Project Manager and Estimator though project completion.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Promote Safety and take active role in addressing concerns and advancing Safety on projects
  • Bid reviews and take-offs utilizing computer software program(s).
  • Assist Estimators in preparing cost estimates in preparation for handoff meetings with Project Managers.
  • Consolidate post-bid work groups with Estimators and review subcontracts as required with Contract Admins.
  • Prepare and submit pre-construction documentation to Owners.
  • Daily project visits with clear communication to Project Managers on job status
  • Assist Project Managers in maintain and manage accurate construction and paving schedules.
  • Input daily production levels for foreman based on as-bid information
  • Tracking and managing of daily quantities and costs on projects.
  • Perform post-build analysis of projects identifying key performance drivers and how they relate to the overall performance of the project with the Project Managers.
  • Assist Project Managers with project close-out.
  • Assist other departments with specific tasks as requested or assigned.

Other Responsibilities
  • Assist with estimating as needed utilizing HCSS bidding and Revu BlueBeam take-off software.
  • Communicating with customer/Owners.
  • Continuous education of HMA designs, paving practices, HMA productions (plant) and how they impact overall project schedules.
  • Recognize and info Project Managers of jobsite issues as they relate to subcontractors and project schedule.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Required Education
  • High School diploma or GED with minimum 3 years related experience in construction or a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a construction related field.
  • Individuals seeking a Bachelor's degree will be considered.

Required Skills
  • Computer Experience:
  • Revu BlueBeam
  • MS Office Suite 2013 r newer
  • Understanding of scheduling practices
  • Computer savvy

Additional skills considered a plus, but not required:
  • Understanding of Viewpoint or other accounting software
  • HCSS or similar estimating software
  • Knowledge of HMA mix design and properties

  • Work will be performed in an office setting (30%) and outside on a job site (70%).

Work Environment
  • This position will work the majority of the time in a project field environment but will also include regular visits to an office for meetings and/or project related functions.
  • Work environment will vary depending on job task.
