This is what you will do:

Lead small molecule projects as the Medicinal Chemistry project leader. Including scientific leadership of PhD and BS/MS level internal Medicinal Chemistry and CRO resources. Provide wider project and strategic input as needed to the expanding Alexion small molecule portfolio and AZ collaborations

You will be responsible for:

  • Utilise drug discovery expertise to scientifically lead small molecule multidisciplinary projects with both internal and external resources
  • Provide strategic and scientific leadership of project(s) leading with strong design hypothesis.
  • Wider strategic feedback to small molecules group strategy and collaborations both external and with AZ!
  • Serve as subject matter expert in chemistry with both internal and external partners and provide recommendations regarding new targets and emerging external opportunities
  • Proactively safeguard IP and conduct due diligences as necessary
You will need to have:
  • 15 + years of demonstrated experience, with experience leading projects from inception to development candidate nomination.
  • Experience scientifically leading internal and external chemistry resources as a project leader
  • Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration and organizational skills
  • Strong track record of innovation demonstrated by patent publications spanning 10 plus years
  • spanning in excess of 10yrs in industry
We would prefer for you to have:
  • Extensive CRO management experience
  • A PhD
  • Biotech and big pharma experience
