Position Purpose:

Responsible for creating, executing, and effectively maintaining an efficient master schedule that

meets customer requirements and effectively utilizes inventory.

Essential Functions:

• Supervises Production Planners

• Ensures a high level of proficiency and development with-in the planning group

• Create a level loaded Master Production Schedule while maintaining targeted inventory levels

• Ensure a consistent handoff of planning information to the production team

• Maintain a valid capacity requirement plan that supports the master production schedule

• Identify and manage bottlenecks and capacity issues with the Production Management team, coordinate internally and externally the resolution of the issues

• Establish and monitor MRP system parameters, including safety stock levels on manufactured items

• Lead daily Master Production Schedule meetings

• Report out on production schedule attainment, request, and investigate the root cause for production issues and drive corrective action

• Lead SIOP meetings with all departments to input forecast for materials and capacity to achieve on-time delivery goals at optimum cost with optimum inventory levels

• Review action meetings on a regular basis and act as necessary

• Lead the utilization of system scheduling tools to increase the level of automation, and reduce the manual nature of the scheduling function

• Provide guidance and expertise to develop plant team knowledge relative to plant schedule optimization

• Partner with engineering and senior management on new product implementation with material and capacity availability

• Create weekly and monthly reports and KPI's

• Provide accurate and timely communication of production shortages or delays which could impact customer scorecard and develop and communicate recovery plans, where necessary

• Coordinate closely with purchasing to ensure all materials are ordered and available to support the production schedules

Education & Training

• Bachelor's degree in Business related field or Technical field

• CPIM/CPSCM preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years in Production Planning in heavy manufacturing environment required

• 3+ years previous management experience in a production scheduling function preferred

• Must have extensive experience w/ ERP systems, such as Oracle, JDE, SAP, QAD.

• Ability to write clear, concise, and effective correspondence; and to effectively present, communicate, and exchange information.

• Ability to manage, prioritize, and complete multiple projects and assignments while meeting required deadlines.

• Must be attentive to detail and consistently demonstrate a high degree of accuracy.

• Must be proficient in MS Office software, particularly, Excel

Physical Demands

State special physical demands: (Physical Requirements (standing, lifting, repetitive tasks, travel)

  • Frequent sitting and working at computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional standing and walking on concrete.
  • Ability to wear all applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

Environmental Conditions

State the degree of exposure to various work conditions:
  • Primarily office setting working with computer and phone.
  • Frequent exposure to seasonal heat and cold temperatures
