Payroll Specialist

Position Summary

The role of the Payroll Specialist will be to ensure payroll is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for providing exceptional client service to the Rehrig Pacific employee population, promptly addressing all related queries and concerns.

Areas of Accountability

Payroll Processing

  • Collect and review employee information and working hours, calculating wages, manual adjustments, preparing, and processing employee payments
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records
  • Review timecard exceptions, collect timesheet data, and reconcile payroll totals
  • Review new hires & terminations and process with payroll
  • Process ad hoc bonuses, gifts, etc.
  • Review and maintain PTO requests
Reporting
  • Track and deduct all child support, garnishments, tax levies, and other special payroll deductions
  • Assists in responding to government agency requests through the preparation of relevant historical and/or factual data requested by Payroll/Benefits management, including responses to the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, PERB, etc
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims on a timely basis

Terminations
  • Review ADP termination submissions
  • Calculate and process final checks
  • Finalize termination in ADP and ensure proper backup is uploaded to employee•s profile
Data Integrity
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee data; ensure all payroll information, files and records are maintained in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
  • BSc/BA in business or High school diploma and equivalent experience
  • Excellent computer skills in, Excel and basic formulas and pivots, Microsoft Word Access, and other applications
  • Must possess at least 2 years• experience with ADP WorkforceNow
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to professionally communicate both verbally and written with employees and outside partners
  • Excellent time management skills

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Rehrig Pacific, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000.00 to $75,000.00.
