Job Summary
IUSM-Bloomington is looking for a part-time hourly communications professional to assist with updating and developing media content and communications. This position supports the writing and editing of print and online materials, intended for both internal and external audiences, to advance the department's initiatives. Communications may include newsletters, departmental correspondence, memos, presentations, and/or other informative or promotional material. This position is also tasked with improving the IUSM-Bloomington web presence, including social media. This will include integration with larger School-level media processes and people.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Associate Dean and Center Director, as well as Indianapolis-based communications and media staff
- Provides input into a comprehensive media strategy
- Manages the departments social media accounts and posts content
- Updates website and web content
- Assists staff with promoting events
- Assists with internal and external communication
- Updates onsite content, i.e., MedTv
- Develops and creates content including photography, flyers, promotional material, pamphlets, etc. for external communication
- Develops new strategies for increasing community and health system partner engagement
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required - Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field
SKILLS
Required
- Strong written and visual communication skills, including creating and editing
- Experience with social media and web content management
- Attention to detail
- Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential information
- Excellent collaboration and team building skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines
Work LocationBloomington, Indiana
Work Hours10-20 hours a week.
