Job Summary
The Assistant Director of the Center for Transfer and Adult Students provides leadership for a centralized program designed to support to transfer students in the first year after transitioning to IUPUI from a prior institution. The Associate Director will provide oversight and direction for all aspects of planning, implementing, and managing programs to support the transition to college for transfer and adult students including new student orientation, Welcome Week Activities, student honor societies, student organizations, and special events for adult and transfer students.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Develops and implements programs and services that support the transition to IUPUI for transfer and adult students. This includes but is not limited to Welcome Week activities, student honor societies, student organizations, and special events for transfer and adult students.
- Collaborates with the Director of Orientation Services on the development and implementation of orientation programs for transfer and adult students.
- Develops a transfer seminar curriculum in conjunction with appropriate faculty. Instructs 1 Transfer Seminar Course and 1 mentor education course each semester to assist students in their development.
- Hires, trains and supervises student employees and peer mentors who will participate in program implementation and delivery.
- Serves on, and leads when appropriate, campus committees which address the success of transfer and adult students.
- Serves as a key leader in the Center for Transfer and Adult Students.
- Continuously advocates for the enrollment and success of transfer and adult students.
- Represents IUPUI and the Center for Transfer and Adult Students on various institutional and community committees, task forces, and working groups.
- Continually nurtures the cooperative relationships between IUPUI and Ivy Tech Central Indiana.
QualificationsEDUCATION
RequiredWORK EXPERIENCE
Required- 1 year of relevant experience in student success and transition programming (preferably with transfer and adult students)
SKILLS
Required- Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information
Preferred- Experience planning and implementing large scale events
Work LocationIndianapolis, Indiana
This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
Advertised Salary$23.50 per hour
Work Hours29 hours per week
