PACKER - JOB DESCRIPTION

The following Job Description is designed for the Packer Position. The position responsibilities shall include instructions for food safety, quality and process efficiency. The position responsibilities shall be, but are not limited to the functions as described below:

General Qualifications:

1. Complete a Chemical Safety Training before handling chemicals.
2. Complete GMP (Good Manufacturing Process), HACCP (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point), and Allergen Training.
3. Meet all requirements of the SQF (Safe Quality Food) Program
4. Comply with all GMP requirements.
5. Comply with all requirements for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as defined by the appropriate plant procedures.
6. Comply with all Safety Rules and Policies.
7. 2nd shift 3:00pm -11:00pm and every other Saturday

Position Requirements:

1. Place finished product into cartons manually or by the use of the mechanical cartoners and place the filled cartons into the master corrugated box and tape the master corrugated box closed and place it on the conveyor to go to the freezer (approximate weight 20 lbs. to 50 lbs.) and participate in repacking product.
2. Rotate positions every 15 minutes.
3. Replenish rolls of wrap (approximate weight 45 lbs.) on the wrapper stand and when roll is empty or during change-overs to a different product.
4. Remove and replace the boxes of stickers (approximate weight 22 lbs.) into the mechanical stickers. During sticker jams, the packer helps insert the sticks manually into the product and helps remove the product not removed by the picker arms.
5. Open cases of cartons (approximate weight 20 lbs.) and fill the carton magazines to the proper level with cartons.
6. Work together to maintain their work environment in a clean and orderly manner by picking up trash, hosing down the floors and squeegeeing as needed.
7. Responsible for the proper filling of the consumer packages. They are responsible for removing empty wraps, tape wraps, and mechanically damaged product.
8. Observe the product, machinery, ingredients and supplies and notify the supervisor and/or the machine operator of any and all abnormalities.
9. Follow all ICS Safety rules, reporting safety hazards and incidents to a supervisor.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
11. 2nd shift 3pm-11pm and every other Saturday

Physical Requirements:

1. Lift 50 lbs. for up to 8 hours per shift
2. Stand for 7+ hours per 8-hour shift
3. Work 6, 8-hour shifts per week
4. Frequently bend and twist at the waist, climb steps, and crawl under conveyers.
5. Frequently reach over their head with both arms.
6. Have normal eyesight and hearing with corrective devices if needed.
