New Product Design Engineering Intern or Co-Op

Job Summary:

This position is for a college student currently working towards a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or another related field. This position will provide support to Mueller's Mechanical New Product Development (NPD) department with a focus on design.

Work and experiences may include any of the below-mentioned tasks. Other duties may be assigned as well based on business need or learning opportunities.

Co-Ops Assignments May Include:

• Design and build product prototypes

• Conduct laboratory and real-world testing

• CAD work (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)

• FMEA (design and process engineering)

• Perform field trials alongside engineering team

Primary Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical Engineering or another related field

• CAD competency

• Demonstrate ability to problem solve technical issues

• Ability to work independently or with a team

• Proficient computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Program suite

• Must hold valid driver's license

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of mechanical design and materials

• CREO or SolidWorks experience

• Proficiency in Statics, Dynamics, and Fluids

• Experience with manufacturing processes

• 3D printing, rapid prototyping, or additive manufacturing

• Experience with inspection and lab equipment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:

• Working in fabrication facilities or laboratories

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

• Ability to manipulate test material

• Ability to climb stairs, ladders and similar structures

• Ability to work on uneven surfaces
