Role Definition

The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) has an opening for a Production Scheduling Manager for the U.S. Drivetrain supply chain team located in East Peoria, IL. The Production Scheduling Manager supports all U.S. Drivetrain machining and heat treat operations scheduling to ensure customer demand requirements are planned for and met through the cycles. In addition, this position is responsible for managing work done outside (WDO) and the facility inventory record accuracy (IRA) team.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and troubleshooting planned production scheduling problems; recommending process improvements to optimize the team efficiency and scheduling process.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve product-related issues and incorporate customer and business requirements.
  • Directing complex production schedules; reviewing workflow of production workers, inventory levels, capacity constraints, machine breakdowns, product quality, etc. to ensure operational excellence.
  • Provides inputs to the Sales and Operations Planning cycle, including supply commitments based on overall capacity in the supply chain.
  • Champion of inventory improvement projects to drive a robust program and process to meet corporate and local requirements for inventory management.
  • Collaborate and work effectively with diverse, multi-functional teams to maintain and improve inventory record accuracy.
  • Monitoring and resolving corporate compliance monthly counts, audits, discrepancy counts and quarterly ILC counts in two ERP Systems (MAMM/SAP).
Basic Qualification

Skill Descriptors

Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Level Extensive Experience:
  • Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans.
  • Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.
  • Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.
Standard Operating Procedures: Knowledge of established standard operating procedures (SOP); ability to design, implement and evaluate standard operating procedures affecting daily and strategic business operations in order to increase operational efficiency. Level Extensive Experience:
  • Designs a standard operating procedure, detailing steps and activities, within a department; develops procedures, processes, and controls to implement and execute policy requirements.
  • Integrates best practices into the design, implementation and evaluation of organizational SOPs.
  • Uses and learns new technologies for optimizing & automating scheduling activities as well as monitoring performance.
Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability. Level Extensive Experience:
  • Participates in setting parameters for reorders, min/max levels, lead days and job days.
  • Coordinates capacity and materials planning for net demand within a planning period.
  • Evaluates considerations for synchronizing demand for products with production capabilities.
Forecasting: Knowledge of forecasting tools, approaches and practices; ability to determine product demand and estimate production requirements and loads. Level Extensive Experience:
  • Integrates input from diverse sources to produce demand forecasts for multiple products or regions.
  • Selects appropriate forecasting techniques for each product line and plant.
  • Monitors effectiveness of sales and production forecasting systems; adjusts as necessary.
