The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts DistributionofCat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurementand thedesign andmanufactureof Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

As the Manager, Engineering you will coach, guide, and facilitate the development of a work group to develop collaborative relationship among their peers, customers, suppliers, and other functional groups to ensure goals are achieved. The individual will create and maintain an organizational climate/culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement/commitment, and a sense of urgency towards business success. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor, and coach your immediate work group, and deepen your professional network. A Manager, Engineering within our Undercarriage (UC) team is responsible for product development and MVO (Multi Value Offering) Strategy to meet aftermarket growth targets. In this role you will have an opportunity to lead a high-performing team of engineers in the design and development of innovative new product technologies.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead work group to complete objectives in development of new components, field and supplier quality issue resolution, continuous process and product improvement, and cost reduction pull through.
  • Mentor and coach a workgroup of up to five (5) individuals.
  • Provide direction, focus, motivation, and encouragement for team.
  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.
What You Have (Basic Qualifications):
  • Planning (Tactical & Strategic): Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
    • Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.
    • Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.
    • Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.
    • Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.
    • Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
    • Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Previous Experience with Component or Machin Design/Development.
  • Previous Experience with NPI/CPI/APQP processes and tools.
