Description:

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail; performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic procedures.

Education

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Maintains 24 CEU's in a two year period, five per year specific to mammography
  • Registered in Mammography by the ARRT
  • Training and Experience
  • Registered by the ARRT
  • BCLS

Job Knowledge
  • Must have good working knowledge of anatomy
  • Must have an understanding of principles of physics, electricity, variations of anatomical postures - supine, prone, etc.
  • Must know methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined images
  • Must be able to set up and operate equipment
  • Must have knowledge of methods and techniques of creating and storing images; of psychology of patient care and sterile techniques to deal with all types and conditions of patients
  • Must keep abreast of new procedures, equipment and methods
