Description:
Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail; performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic procedures.
Education
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Maintains 24 CEU's in a two year period, five per year specific to mammography
- Registered in Mammography by the ARRT
- Training and Experience
- Registered by the ARRT
- BCLS
Job Knowledge
- Must have good working knowledge of anatomy
- Must have an understanding of principles of physics, electricity, variations of anatomical postures - supine, prone, etc.
- Must know methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined images
- Must be able to set up and operate equipment
- Must have knowledge of methods and techniques of creating and storing images; of psychology of patient care and sterile techniques to deal with all types and conditions of patients
- Must keep abreast of new procedures, equipment and methods
- None required in State of Michigan
