Job Summary

The Lab Manager is primarily responsible for leadership of Dixies QA/QC and R&D Labs. The necessary cross functional leadership and communication with all levels, departments within the organization is key to the success of this role.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • The Lab Manager is responsible for the planning and operational performance of the QA/QC and research & development (R&D) laboratories.
  • Define, execute, and lead laboratory operations, including validating assays, process evaluation, equipment maintenance requirements, and personnel scheduling and assignments
  • Develops, validates, monitors, and enforces Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all tests and matrices to meet regulatory requirements for ISO 9001 compliance
  • Updates SOPs with necessary changes and revisions
  • Develops procedures to smooth lab operations and increase efficiencies.
  • Conducts data review and certifies data results on a Certificate of Analysis (COA)
  • Delegates COA signature authority and accepts responsibility for all results released from the laboratory
  • Maintains an effective and positive team culture to support and execute high-reliability operations
  • Provide guidance as requested regarding hiring, training, promotions, and disciplinary issues for technical and lab personnel
  • Manages financial, consumable, and capital resources and proactively report needs and fiscal health to leadership
  • Ensures strict safety and security protocols are maintained
  • Ensures proper document control
  • Develops and executes on operational and quality improvement plans
  • Understand and Lead product regulatory requirements for the company and ensure compliance.
  • Serves as the laboratory management representative for the Company.
  • Works closely with the operations group with "in process" sample management (internal Customers)
  • Assist customer service department with their efforts in investigating and tracking customer complaints.
  • Scheduling of lab technicians to ensure QC and R&D lab functionalities as needed.
  • Reviewing and approving out-of-specification (OOS) reports.
  • Working with Production personnel to resolve any issues concerning samples, sampling data, and methods.
  • Liaison between Company and Third-Party Lab Services Contractor.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry, other related area preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of Industrial laboratory experience and technical work experience
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Experience in R&D, molecule design, process development and plant troubleshooting is a "plus"
  • Knowledge and experience as a chemical hygiene officer.
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, self-organizer
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and employee relations skills
