Job Description
The Instructional Technologist role manages and supports essential academic software, such as Sakai (course management), the Google Suite, Kaltura (video streaming), Wordpress, VoiceThread, Perusall, etc. This support includes maintaining ongoing relationships with the respective vendors.
The Instructional Technologist organizes and delivers research and instruction services to the Wellesley College community. They offer guidance in the selection and use of technology resources to students, faculty, and staff; provide individual consultations to students on the design and execution of technical assignments and projects; and provide instruction to students and faculty on the use of appropriate technology resources for academic work.
The Instructional Technologist also applies their expertise to the evaluation, and advises on the selection of new technologies and solutions; participates in creating and maintaining an integrated support model for a range of specialized academic software used campus-wide; and provides support for services and programs in RIS service locations.
As a member of the deeply-merged Research & Instructional Support (RIS) group composed of instructional technologists and research and instruction librarians, this role collaborates regularly with others in the group on instructional and research projects, as well as partners throughout LTS. They also provide support for services, programs, and initiatives RIS is responsible for (such as Digital Scholarship). RIS team members leverage diverse specialties to support and develop scholarship and learning throughout the Wellesley community.
