Grant and Contract Compliance Specialist (2)

General Statement of Job:
The Grant and Contracts Compliance Specialist provides guidance and technical assistance to promote effective grant management and post-award compliance practices for sponsored initiatives awarded to the college. This position is responsible for monitoring programmatic and fiscal activity for the post-award phase of the grant initiatives.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides guidance and assistance with contract negotiations, grant deliverables, grant timelines, reporting deadlines, amendments and other grant compliance related responsibilities.
  2. Promotes effective grant management, programmatic and fiscal compliance of grants by providing technical assistance to internal stakeholders, particularly Project Directors/Principal Investigators and Financial Managers for grants awarded to the college.
  3. Provides guidance and assists grant Project Directors/Principal Investigators in the development of programmatic or performance reports to ensure compliance with sponsored agency guidelines.
  4. Reviews and analyzes grant agreements and contracts to provide effective grant management and compliance support.
  5. Conducts post-award meetings with internal stakeholders, including, but not limited to Award Kickoffs, Compliance Reviews, sub-recipient monitoring and grant closeouts.
  6. Conducts grant status reviews, post-award compliance reviews, and monitors grants to promote compliance with sponsored agency guidelines.
  7. Provides guidance to internal and external stakeholders regarding grant compliance, policies, and procedures and resolves related issues and concerns.
  8. Maintains the effort reporting process to include tracking, validating, processing, and filing to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines.
  9. Assists with assembling and preparing audit documentation for virtual or onsite monitoring visits from funding agencies.
  10. Develops and maintains resources such as handbooks and other tools or instruments that support effective grant management practices.
  11. Collaborates with the Office of Sponsored Initiatives team and supports projects, initiatives, and procedures, including but not limited to the use of the college’s Grant Management System, electronic filing system, grant budget reviews, and record retention.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned


Required Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. At least one (1) year of grant experience required.

  1. Security Sensitive position: All applicants are subject to a criminal background check under South Texas College policy.
  2. In addition, subject to a federal background check.
  3. Must have or qualify for a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
