Job Description:
The Epidemiologist for Cancer Data Collection within the DHHS Division of Public Health is vital to the State's efforts to provide medical professionals with the data needed to better understand how cancer impacts Nebraskans in an effort to find better treatment and hopefully a cure.

As Epidemiologist you will:

Oversee the collection, validation, and maintenance of cancer data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Data Analysis: Conduct statistical analyses of cancer data to identify trends, risk factors, and outcomes. Prepare and present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Epidemiological Research: Design and conduct epidemiological studies to investigate cancer-related questions. Collaborate with researchers and contribute to scientific publications.

Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality assurance processes for cancer data. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, researchers, and public health organizations to enhance data sharing and contribute to collaborative research efforts.

Report Generation: Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports on cancer trends, incidence, and outcomes for internal and external audiences.

REQUIREMENTS:

Customary qualifications is a masters degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics or other health care related field. Additional training and experience in the application of epidemiological principles and practices is required, including surveillance, investigative techniques, implementation and control measures and evaluation measures, and system design and implementation.

PREFERRED: Master's or Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field.
Strong proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, R, Tableau) and data management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proven experience working with cancer registry or public health data and conducting epidemiological research.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to diverse audiences.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.

Knowledge of cancer biology, treatment modalities, and healthcare systems.
Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards governing cancer registries.
