ABOUT WOODLAND JOB CORPS CENTER

The Woodland Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Electrical Wiring, Carpentry, Building Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Advanced Training - Culinary Arts and Hotel & Lodging. We also assist students with job placement upon completion of their educational and career technical training.

Each year we provide academic, vocational training, and placement services to approximately 9,000 young people from ages 16 to 24 primarily in a residential setting. Our academic and career technical training programs are accredited and lead to national industry-recognized credentials.

Woodland Job Corps Center is actively seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to assume the role of Education Director. The Education Director will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the education department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and effective educational programs. This position requires a strong educational background, leadership skills, and a commitment to the success of young individuals in a vocational training environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Educational Leadership:
    • Provide visionary leadership to the education department, setting strategic goals and objectives aligned with the center's mission and values.
    • Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Curriculum Development and Implementation:
    • Oversee the development, evaluation, and implementation of educational curricula that meet the needs of a diverse student population.
    • Ensure alignment with industry standards, Job Corps program requirements, and local workforce needs.
  • Instructional Staff Management:
    • Recruit, train, and supervise instructional staff, providing ongoing support, professional development, and feedback.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes effective teaching practices.
  • Student Success Initiatives:
    • Develop and implement programs and initiatives aimed at improving student success, retention, and post-graduation outcomes.
    • Monitor student performance data and implement strategies to address challenges and enhance learning outcomes.
  • Partnership Development:
    • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local educational institutions, industry leaders, and community organizations to enhance educational opportunities for students.
    • Collaborate with external partners to provide students with internships, job placement opportunities, and industry-relevant experiences.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and Job Corps program regulations.
    • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and stakeholders in a timely manner.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from an accredited school required. Master's degree from an accredited school preferred. A minimum of two years of experience in program management and direction with substantial experience working with youth required. Experience working in Job Corps or closely related field preferred. Experience in teaching or related field preferred. A valid in-State teaching certificate preferred. Department of Labor approval required.
