EXPANSIA is seeking an energetic individual to work collaboratively across execution and functional teams to execute the responsibilities outlined below. Within these partnerships, the candidate will share overall responsibility for business development strategy, planning and execution for opportunities with the United States Space Force, United States Air Force, and potentially other Department of Defense customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate the experience and career path trajectory required to manage the full scope of business practices needed to manage an opportunity pipeline including business development, opportunity identification and qualification, associated reviews and client management through opportunity close.


  • The successful candidate understands the current missions of the respective Agencies and their cultures, current organizational components; leadership; major programs; and their challenges. This role focuses exclusively on Business Development. The candidate is responsible for assessing opportunities to eliminate or move forward through EXPANSIA's growth process so an opportunity is included in EXPANSIA's pipeline metrics as a qualified opportunity.
  • Primary responsibilities include Business Development activities to include but not limited to market assessment, opportunity identification, qualification and maturation to assist EXPANSIA in determining pursue no pursue decisions. Business Development responsibilities require the candidate to lead throughout the market and competitive assessment, qualification and support capture, and proposal processes to include all aspects in developing the company's win strategy. This position is a mid-level business development position and therefore it is expected this individual will manage a dynamic, multi-year pipeline of opportunities in various stages of maturity. Business Development activities will promote the complete portfolio of services from EXPANSIA's core capability areas to our client base. Capability areas include Engineering & Integration, Mission Solutions; Network Engineering; Information Technology Modernization and Solutions including Software Integration, Cyber, Cloud & Data Sciences; and New Market Initiatives.
  • This position will include customer contact and positioning; teaming interactions; and coordination with other internal resources available across EXPANSIA. Experience with customer relationship management and opportunity tracking as well as experience with a variety of contract types including cost plus fixed fee, fixed price, award fee, and performance-based contracting are required. The preferred candidate will be available to travel as needed for a geographically dispersed customer set.
  • The proposed salary range for this position is $130,000 - $170,000, plus commissions. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.   • Years of Experience: Ten (10) years of relevant experience; 5+ years specifically within Business Development.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Clearance: Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret

  • Reputation for being able to build and work within high performance teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Commitment to and demonstrated experience supporting relevant industry associations.
  • This individual must be able to communicate well with senior and executive management within a company and with key federal customers.
  • Ability to identify, qualify, and advance select opportunities 18-24 months prior to release.
  • Experience working with vendor partners and communicating associated value propositions to new and existing customers.
  • Deep network of industry relationships (small and large businesses) and experience building integrated project teams.
  • Candidates must have highly effective interpersonal skills to carry-out daily interactions with technical leaders and business executives within EXPANSIA, with the customers, and with teammates and subcontractors.

  • Prior experience and familiarity with the missions of the United States Air Force and the United States Space Force.
  • A demonstrated sustained ability and reputation of winning complex, prime integration services or systems engineering contract awards with values over $50M that meets and exceeds challenging goals and quotas.
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to contribute to fast-paced business leadership teams.
  • Ability to document and explain Agency mission and component goals to build long lasting mission outcomes.
