Director of Facilities Management

Salary Range: $93,699.00 - 115,752.00

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director of Facilities Management plans, develops, directs, and controls the comprehensive activities, services, and operations of Facilities Management, including construction and improvements and deferred maintenance projects; work requests, preventive maintenance, all aspects of physical plant operation and grounds maintenance, janitorial and setup for the College location. The Director of Facilities Management reports to the Vice President, Administrative and Financial Services.

CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Plan, develop, direct and control the comprehensive activities, services, and operations of Facilities Management.

* Allocate personnel and resources to optimize departmental efficiency and effectiveness.

* Hire, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; arrange, schedule, and participate in providing periodic training to department personnel with emphasis on job skills development .

* Direct and participate in the development and assembly of bid specifications and the awarding of maintenance and construction contracts; work with contractors on projects and request bids for work to be performed; assure compliance with contract specifications and applicable laws, codes, and regulations.

* Coordinate the purchase of facilities operational supplies and equipment; direct inventory control, forecast and recommend any additional funds needed for equipment, materials, and supplies.

* Coordinate work requests, preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and remodeling projects; prepare cost, time, and labor estimates.

* Develop and prepare the annual preliminary budget for Facilities Management. Analyze and review budgetary and financial data. Control and authorize expenditures.

* Provide technical expertise, information, and assistance to the Vice President.

* Assist in formulating and developing fiscal policies, procedures, and programs.

* Advise the Vice President of unusual trends or problems and recommend appropriate corrective action.

* Report or review findings from facilities inspections, or environmental testing.

* Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies along with state and federal regulations.

* Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and ensure safety regulation compliance.

* Direct the maintenance staff in the repair, maintenance, and renovation of the physical plant in the most cost-efficient, timely manner possible.

* Develop, implement and administer the goals and objectives related to physical plant management maintenance, repair and renovation,

* Coordinate the work of outside vendors, contractors, engineers, etc.

* Interpret, apply and ensure Facilities Staff compliance with College, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and policies, regarding engineering standards and building codes.

* Keep current with developments and new technology and apprize management of necessary improvements to ensure the College is at the cutting edge of available technology.

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Must be responsive to work-related phone calls and emails during non-business hours on occasion.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution(e.g., facilities management, architecture, engineering)

* 5-7 years of proven administrative experience in the operation and management of a facility or plant work environment

* Demonstrated ability to develop short and long term objectives

* Strong leadership and supervisory experience with the ability to influence and effectively lead others through periods of transition and change

* Passion for Facilities Management, unparalleled customer service and the ability to think strategically while acting tactically

* Current knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, regulations, and laws pertaining to construction, environment, and energy conservation

* MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, Quantum Vue, Bluebeam Vu, WebCTRL or similar experience

PREFERRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:

* Knowledge of Federal and state health department regulations and safety procedures. Landscape planning and sustainability
