Job Description PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Developer I, LSC Online assists with designing, developing, implementing, and testing application software and related integrations. Updates and enhances existing client-server security frameworks within delivered applications based on predetermined requirements. Works closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions, and works on elements of large, complex implementations. Under supervision, applies system solutions to LSC-Online business problems through the design and programming of automated systems. Assists in all aspects of custom programming assignments and overall design of delivered services. Often replicating existing software solutions to expand coverage or increase code uniformity. A member of a 24/7/365 global department and the availability of on-call and after-hour support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Performs problem analysis to propose resolutions to system or application issues. Tests and debugs applications in conjunction with supervisor, business analyst, and users. Assist in developing programs for automatic correction of erroneous data
  2. Assist with designing, writing, testing, implementing, and maintaining software. Including interface applications, task scheduled server side applets, and tools for testing and delivery of distributed applications
  3. Develops interface programs based on existing designs or direction
  4. Provides technical support for LSC-Online's software implementations. Particular emphasis will be on programming languages and developing knowledge of programming transactions. Works with the College staff to ensure adherence to prevailing programming standards when performing analysis, writing documentation, and testing components. Works with business and operations personnel to ensure business requirements and system needs are met (including technical and operational documentation)
  5. Analyzes current and continuing information systems requirements. Adheres to internal procedures to supplement the development of tools and documents to provide a high level of application integrity and availability
  6. Maintains and modifies complex systems and integrated subsystems. Enhances or develops programs to address requirements for data conversions
  7. Participates in system upgrades and other support activities as needed, and participates in development of improvements to help implement change when needed. Responsible for On-Call and After-hour support
  8. Stays current with technological developments in systems and application support, best practices.
  9. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree and at least 3 years of directly related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Object-oriented Programming
  • Web development
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems
  • Experience working with the Learning Tools Interoperability standard
Salary

Hiring salary range is $60,295-$69,339

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
