Dermatology Technician or Medical Assistant - Bozeman
Billings Clinic

Under general supervision, assists in the delivery of patient care/treatment within the Dermatology department. Works collaboratively with the Physician, Non-Physician Provider, and other departmental personnel to meet the physical, psychosocial, educational, and spiritual needs of the patient and family.

Essential Job Functions

Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.Prepares room, equipment and supplies as dictated by a particular examination, patient's needs, and Billings Clinic exam and procedure room cleaning guidelines.Assists with scheduling appointments, diagnostic tests, treatments, procedures, and surgery.Screens incoming telephone calls for appropriate referrals to nurse, physician and/or non-physician provider.Orders and maintains clinical and office supplies and equipment as directed.Maintains patient records and other information. Adheres to confidentiality requirements.Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.Receives and prepares patient for examination and treatment as directed. Obtains and records history and vital signs.Assists in preparing for procedures and exams. Charts and documents in medical record. Collects laboratory specimens as needed.Cleans and disinfects equipment per Billings Clinic sterile processing guidelines.Provides instruction to patients as directed by physician, non-physician provider or documented in policies and procedures.Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.Proficient in basic patient care and treatment, planning and evaluating according to job description.Competent to perform routine, non-complex aspects of patient care, treatments and procedures.Adheres to patient safety goals and standards.Participates in the financial viability of Billings Clinic by ensuring appropriate utilization of supplies and equipment and maximizing the flow of patients to maximize effective utilization of the physician's/non-physician provider's timeBasic laboratory specimen handling and processingPerforms minor procedures to include but not limited to stitch and staple removal, application of dressings, etc.Required to assist in onboarding and job training for medical assistants.
Minimum Qualifications

Dermatology Technician-
Education
Minimum High School or GED High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
6 months of dermatology experience
Certifications and Licenses
Dermatology Technician certification within 1 year of hire date
Medical Assistant-
Education
Minimum High School or GED High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
Six (6) months related work experience in a health care environment required to develop proficiency in basic Medical Assistant procedures and processes encompassing all age groups, preferred.
Certifications and Licenses
Required to obtain certification or registration within fifteen (15) months of hire through organizations approved by Billings ClinicBillings Clinic will assist with obtaining MA certificationCPR certification at hire
