The mission of the Student Support Services STEM (STEM3S) program is to equip students with tools to achieve persistence, graduation, and life-long learning while cultivating scholars holistically and fostering community. STEM3S is one of the Federal TRIO programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is designed to help STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) students achieve success at Santa Fe College, specifically by providing support services that will help eligible students progress academically throughout college. STEM3S's goal is to identify, select, enroll, retain, serve, and assist students who are from low-income families, from families where neither parent has a bachelor's degree, and/or who are students with disabilities.
The Coordinator for STEM3S is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the STEM3S program and will create and maintain systems to ensure that eligible TRIO participants in pre-collegiate programs are seamlessly connected to STEM3S to increase persistence, good academic standing, graduation, and transfer rates among the program's target population. STEM3S provides an array of services and activities such as tutoring, personal counseling, financial support and literacy, transfer assistance, coaching, career services, grant aid, as well as study skills development. The Coordinator is responsible for the programmatic, operational, and fiscal management of STEM3S and is accountable for the project's success.
