Controller

Controller Ideal Candidate Profile

QTS is currently seeking an energetic, responsive and well-organized full time Controller that will be responsible for providing financial expertise and leadership to support the business, protecting the assets and interests of the Cretex shareholders. This position will serve as a strong business partner, providing financial leadership, guidance, and assistance to functional leaders. This position will also train and develop operating company accounting function staff. This position will be a hybrid work position within the state of Minnesota. Candidates MUST be located in Minnesota.

Controller Job Summary

  • Assist with the annual operating plan process in partnership with the Director of Finance.
  • Conduct financial and business analyses to identify potential problems and recommended solutions.
  • Develop and maintain functional and business unit reporting processes that accurately describe the performance of key business and financial parameters.
  • Work closely with functional and business unit leaders in conducting detailed financial and business analyses to identify potential problems, determine root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to Estimators and identify pricing risks, trends, and opportunities to optimize customer pricing.
  • Negotiate pricing with customers, suppliers, and the internal sales team to drive profit margin improvements.
  • Standardize internal financial reporting and work with other functional leaders to strengthen the financial acumen of the organization.
  • Manage employee bonus program.
  • Analyze capital expenditure proposals and ensure investments are supported by sound financial projections and plans.
  • Partner with the supply chain team to develop inventory management policies to optimize inventory needs while mitigating risk.
  • Ensure monthly and annual financial reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Lead annual R&D tax credit process.
  • Lead annual financial audit process with a satisfactory outcome.
  • Manage Capital Expenditure Approval process. Design and implement depreciation and fixed asset policies to ensure GAAP compliance and consistency between Cretex Companies
  • Review and approve supplier payments.
  • Design and maintain appropriate controls over accounts payable while identifying risks.
  • Review and approve bi-weekly payroll cycle.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate internal controls across all operations.
  • Achieve satisfactory financial audit results by external and internal auditors.
  • Monitor working capital improvement results and, where appropriate, ensure effective countermeasures are developed and implemented.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives across the company.
  • Drive and support growth of company by identifying key investment opportunities.
  • Maintain speed, accuracy, and productivity of transactional and closing processes.
  • Assist operating management in identifying meaningful metrics (financial and non-financial) and methods to keep score.
  • Implement internal review processes to identify performance gaps to plan, conduct root cause analyses, and implement countermeasures.
  • Provide on-going analysis and reporting of inventory levels, turns, and E&O.
  • Partner with the Operations group to ensure the successful and accurate execution of Cycle Counts and the E&O reserve analysis and disposition of obsolete inventory.
  • Provide employees with goals, performance initiatives, areas of accountability, and training that are directly aligned with the goals of the company.
Qualifications

Controller Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 5 years of experience in an accounting leadership role.
  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Accounting and financial management principles and regulations.
  • Strong leadership and knowledge of accounts receivable/collections.
  • Manufacturing cost accounting and financial analysis experience.
  • Business and financial systems software.
  • Problem analysis/solving.
  • Project management, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to consistently achieve short and long-term business results.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

Desirable Criteria and Qualifications
  • Medical device manufacturing experience.
  • Passed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam.
  • Contract manufacturing experience.
  • Epicor ERP experience preferred. Strong knowledge of ERP and business systems.
  • Experience implementing ERP and Enterprise Content Management systems.
