JOB DESCRIPTION

The Civil-Structural Designer position administratively reports to the Wood Site Manager. The Civil-Structural Designer supports various Project Managers for the project that he/she is assigned. The role of the Civil-Structural Designer is to produce detailed design deliverables as per project Scope of Work. The Civil-Structural Designer will also compile design data to support design estimating activities and/or assist Wood Civil-Structural Lead with design estimating activities as required. This role will additionally support other activities such as but not limited to; Geotechnical updates to site plot plan and data management, field verification of on-going initiatives; evaluate pipe rack systems, plot plans, data gathering, Specification & Standards as well as supporting onsite Civil-Structural Engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Meet or exceed the company and customer safety standards.
• Comply with all company and customer procedures, engineering practices and other applicable standards.
• Perform initial field verification to determine optimum design and translate Scope of Work to a relative project stage estimate with Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Utilize 3D modeling software and 3D survey scan data to produce package deliverables, as applicable.
• Produce detail civil-structural design package based on project Scope of Work, including but not limited to; plans (foundation or steel - 2D and 3D), demolition drawings, elevation drawings and detail drawings.
• Prepare and maintain; project drawing/deliverables list, including but not limited to; project distribution sheet, Scope of Work document, procurement sheet and bill of materials list.
• Support and interface with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Participate in multi-discipline design squad checks.
• Provide project progress update to Project Manager, Wood Civil-Structural Lead and Wood Site Manager.
• Support Wood and Project Manager in maintaining budget, schedule and adherence to the agreed to Scope of Work.
• Maintain cooperative, efficient, and good team working environment.
• Communicate, both verbally and in written form in a professional manner.

• 10+ years of Civil-Structural Drafting, Design & Layout experience working in the chemical and refining manufacturing industry.
• Proficiency in AutoDesk AutoCAD 2022 and AutoCAD ReCap 3D Scan Management software.
• Proficiency in 3D Modeling software, CadWorx 2022 (preferred).
• Working knowledge of the following codes and standards; ACI, AISC, AISI, AWS and ASTM for structural and misc. steel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft products such as; Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Field experience, able to wear required PPE and drive safely to job-site for design verification.
