Description POSITION TITLE: CCE Summer Student AssistantSUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Community Engagement CoordinatorSESSION: Summer (up to 37.5 hours per week)

Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate marketing, public relations and promotion of service. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling campus visits of community partners (nonprofit organizations, government agencies and philanthropic organizations), developing presentations, Google forms, editing the CCE and Bonner webpages, writing and designing a weekly e-newsletter, and other materials for students and faculty.

  • Assist in the continued implementation process for GivePulse engagement platform.

  • Assist in planning events/opportunities for 2024-2025 academic year.

  • Help update and implement the staff handbook/policy and procedure manual; develop onboarding training.

  • Conduct follow-up assessment of service and service-learning experiences from participating

  • students and make recommendations for program enhancement based results.

  • Work with staff colleagues in Student Development, Community Development portfolio and other departments - as appropriate to promote community service and service-learning at University of Lynchburg.

  • Update current and develop new "to-do" templates for recurring events (i.e. Hornet Service Day (August), monthly HornetServe Days, Special Olympics, St. Baldricks, Out of the Darkness, Heart Walk, United Way 5 K, etc.)

  • Maintain daily in-person office hours.

  • Assist in summer reset of Dell Thrift and pantry.

  • Working some weekends and nights will be required (New Bonner Orientation, New Student Orientations, possibly Bonner SLI, etc).

  • Perform any other related duties as required, must be able to work well with faculty, staff, and

  • students.

Qualifications

Candidate Profile:

  • A full-time undergraduate/graduate student at the University of Lynchburg.

  • Highly organized and efficient.

  • Google Suite and social media savvy (including Instagram and Facebook).

  • Strong design experience using Canva or Adobe InDesign.

  • Samples of design work will be requested during the interview process.

  • Able to communicate effectively with staff and community members.

  • Outstanding written and spoken communication skills.

  • Ability to work with a diverse student population, as well as faculty, staff, and parents.
