Job Description

This position is responsible for the customer acquisition, sales strategies and revenue growth of the Oil Gas and Chemical Services business line in all aspects of Business Development strategies/ deliverables, strategic customer alignment. Identifying emerging market trends and analysis to drive new ventures. As a highly motivated sales leader for the sales team, using the expected SGS sales processes, the incumbent will generate revenue for the established portfolio and create new revenue channels for OGC.

  • Responsible for Business Development strategies as well as group yearly deliverables for the OGC business throughout the country.
  • Accountable for achieving the growth targets for the Oil, Gas and Chemical Services.
  • Evaluate opportunities and drive New Business Development (NBD) into profitable growth opportunities within the Oil & Gas industry ensuring strategic fit with SGS business and operating philosophy.
  • Lead in the generation and development of ideas for new services, products and/or enhancement of existing services.
  • Develop a network of industry contacts beyond the current successful and existing OGC client network and Influence and promote the expansion or establishment of business opportunities.
  • Research potential client's portfolio and industry to forecast potential business.
  • Conduct detailed, on-going research on services to identify opportunities for business expansion, new service offerings and partnerships.
  • Work with the management to refine business growth strategies to incorporate priority areas identified from market research and develop execution plans to launch new services or new markets.
  • Perform and assist in the initial solicitation/contact with acquisition targets, prepare initial analysis and acquisition presentations for management. Coordinate and support due diligence and transition processes.
  • Support and advise operation staff for any claim that may arise from clients.
  • Follow up on delivery of services to meet client needs
  • Develop and manage the business plan for the growth of the OGC business services
  • Guide the sales effort in Upstream, Midstream and Downstream facets of the SGS Oil, Gas and Chemical business.
  • Liaise with all other OGC Directors/Managers to ensure Growth objectives are met and supported
  • Liaise with other industry relevant SGS business lines to insure proper and effective cross selling
  • Lead, coach and develop a quality driven, business development team.
  • Operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity.
  • Accountable for the Health, Safety and Environment of personnel and the enforcement of all regulations as per Company Health and Safety Manual, and the immediate escalation of any health, safety or environmental incidents, accidents or concerns
  • Demonstrate safe work habits and enforce a clean working environment.
  • Embrace the Health, Safety & Environment "Journey to Zero" Plan by effective communications and holding accountability.
  • Knowledge of the North American OGC sectors is required.
  • Sales experience. Preferable in an industrial/commercial
    environment with sector/regional or industry-wide accountability.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Business and profit minded with related technical know how.
  • Able to realize business opportunities in conformity to the business strategy.
  • A sense of diplomacy and networking skills are essential to build relationships with external clients as well as key internal personnel.

Qualifications

  • University undergraduate degree in Business Management or
  • Engineering (Bachelor - 4 years) or a related field is required.
  • University graduate degree could be an asset Preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a Business Development role in a related field.
  • Must have a valid drivers license at all times.
  • Must use skilled judgement in identifying sales opportunities, closing business and resolving customer related issues.
  • Able to work independently and to manage several activities/projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition (Proficiency in French would be a strong
    asset).
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Capable of interacting with all levels of management, suppliers and clients.
  • Able to lead and motivate a team towards a business strategy.
  • Competitive and profit-driven (re-invents competitive
    advantage).
  • Acts quickly and decisively; able to make tough calls
  • Works well under pressure, challenges the status quo.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
