Job Description:


The Associate Director of Student Accessibility Services assists the Director of Student Accessibility Services in all aspects of providing support and accommodations to students with disabilities. The Associate Director reviews disability documentation, holds intake meetings with students, and reviews requests for reasonable accommodations. The Associate Director also processes and coordinates student academic accommodations, including test taking, notetaking, and alternate text accommodations. This individual works with a caseload of students and is available for regular meetings with these students. They also assist the Director in ensuring equal access for students who are eligible to receive services. This includes providing academic accommodations for graduate students who have documented disabilities. Lastly, Associate Director oversees the Peer Mentoring program in which upper-class Clark students are trained to work on a peer-to-peer level with under-class students with disabilities.



Major Responsibilities:


  • Provides advising and coaching to registered students regarding accommodation needs and how to access these types of supports.
  • Coordinate accommodations with faculty, residential life staff, physical plant, and others as needed.
  • Review documentation, hold intake meetings, and approve of reasonable academic and residential accommodations based on the documentation provided by the student and written by a provider who is currently working with the student.
  • Oversee the Peer Mentoring program.
  • Assist students in selecting appropriate courses in coordination with FYSA's or Academic Advising.
  • Maintain student documentation of disability within Accommodate.
  • Maintain accessibility services online database Accommodate and ensure all documentation and needs are accessible to those within the unit.
  • Ensure all testing material is gathered prior to students utilizing the testing space and to proctor exams as needed.
  • Arrange for textbook scanning, sign language interpreters, communication with external parties to ensure full access to services that might be provided within the Clark and greater Worcester community.

Assessment/Data Analytics:


  • Analyze and reporting of data collection from Accommodate.
  • Oversight of trends within student population based on cohort.
  • First semester and year end reporting for the unit in conjunction with collaboration with the Director of SAS.
  • Assist with platform management of Accommodate, report key metrics, and any integration with the CRM Slate.

Participate in the growth and development of the Center, Division, and Clark University:


  • Support key initiatives and experiences within the Division of Student Success and the University, such as opening weekend, orientation, commencement, family weekend, traditional events, etc.
  • Serve as a responsible committee representative as requested.
  • Attend necessary meetings and inform staff regarding relevant information.
  • Promote efficiency and courtesy throughout the University community and ensure that is consistent with the Division of Student Success mission and values.
  • Remain cognizant of the University's mission and identity, the constant promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the importance of student voices.
  • Communicate effectively with your supervisor concerning the pertinent unit and/or University matters.
  • Other duties as assigned that are within the best interest of the division and department.


Requirements:


  • 1-2 years of experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting preferably at the post-secondary level. Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, disability services required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, coupled with good judgment, essential.
  • Microsoft Office skills.
  • Familiarity with effective accommodations and supports for college students with disabilities. Experience making accommodation decisions.
  • Experience in developing and executing ADA guidelines and upholding Federal law as it applies to the student and institution.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting medical documentation to ensure the appropriate accommodations are being made for the student to utilize while attending Clark.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise, and passion for customer service and problem solving.
  • Ability to assess and analyze data to assist the Director of SAS in creating reports to measure outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with people and campus partners.
  • Ability to set priorities, juggle several projects at once, and know what needs to be done when.
  • Team player with excellent consulting skills and a fun, but professional presence required.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends on an as-needed basis is required.
