Job Description:

The School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Clark University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) program. This is a full time non-tenure line indefinitely renewable position based upon satisfactory performance.

The successful candidate will share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the graduate level; development of innovative courses; teaching students from diverse cultures and academic backgrounds; collaborating with faculty; and engaging in departmental and professional services. The program provides students with the theories, concepts and foundational methods of computer science, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction to prepare them to solve real-world problems in the industry.

The teaching load for computer science teaching faculty is 3-3 including credit for laboratories.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach three graduate courses in the MSCS program per semester (fall and spring)
• Advise graduate students
• Ensure current curriculum
• Suggest and develop new courses, as needed
• Collaborate with faculty to develop new concentrations, as needed
• Participate in departmental and university services, including committees and professional organizations
• Engage with the broader computer science community through conferences, workshops, and other professional development opportunities with SPS students

Requirements:

• Master's degree in computer science or closely related field, e.g., information technology, data science, informatics
• Three years of teaching at the graduate level
• Ability to develop and teach graduate computer science courses in data science, artificial intelligence (AI), or human computer interaction (HCI)
• Experience in modern technology-stack for the delivery of course content
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in computer science or closely related field
• Relevant Industry experience
• Ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.

The Teaching Statement should describe the philosophy of teaching, teaching experience, course topics able to teach, and teaching methods employed.
