Job Description:


The School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Clark University is seeking qualified candidates for the open position of Assistant Teaching Professor in the Master of Science in Data Analytics (MSDA) program. We invite academics and professionals with experience applying modern data analytics techniques to real-world problems to apply. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that is indefinitely renewable based on satisfactory performance.


The successful candidate must have demonstrated excellence in teaching data analytics-related and a strong background in data analytics, including industry experience in data manipulation, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong record of research and scholarly activities in data analytics or related areas.


The teaching load for teaching faculty in the Data Analytics Program is set at 3-3, including credit for laboratories, which ensures a balanced workload to deliver high-quality education and engage in meaningful academic pursuits. As teaching faculty, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of data analytics education at Clark University, fostering a rich and vibrant learning environment for our students.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Teach three courses per semester (fall and spring) in the MSDA program
  • Develop engaging and innovative course materials, conduct lectures, facilitate discussions, and guide students through hands-on projects and assignments
  • Collaborate with other data analytics faculty to design, update, and refine the MSDA curriculum, as needed
  • Provide academic guidance and mentorship to MSDA students
  • Collaborate with department colleagues on various academic and university meetings and committees
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in data analytics tools, methodologies, and practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the MSDA program director and/or Dean


Requirements:


  • A master's degree in data science, data analytics, computer science, statistics, or a related field
  • A minimum of three years of teaching at the graduate level in data science, data analytics, computer science, statistics, or a related field
  • Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with diverse groups of colleagues and students
  • Proven expertise in data analytics, with practical experience in data manipulation, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization using tools such as Python, R, SQL, etc.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and mentoring students, fostering their academic and professional growth
  • Demonstrated effective written, oral and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:


  • A Ph.D. in data science, data analytics, computer science, statistics, or a related field
  • Experience in online and hybrid teaching modalities
  • A strong record of research in data analytics or related fields, including publications in reputable journals or ongoing research projects
  • Industry experience in applying analytic methods in private or public organizations
