Provides support to the Golf Course Superintendent in ensuring golfers enjoy the best possible playing conditions and surroundings. Responsible for assisting in all aspects of golf course maintenance and operations at Miller Memorial Golf Course including but not limited to; ensuring acceptable playing surfaces and proper maintenance of greens, tees, roughs and fairways, irrigation and drainage system performance, proper training and work direction of staff, appropriate equipment usage and maintenance.

• Assists Golf Course Superintendent in ensuring the maintenance of the entire playing surface of the golf course.
• Ensures greens, tees, roughs and fairways are maintained to an acceptable level of golf course play.
• Evaluates golf course maintenance practices and plan objectives and determines daily tasks in conjunction with Golf Course Superintendent.
• Makes recommendations for procedural changes and course improvements.
• Inspects and identifies turf diseases and insect infestations.
• Calibrates mixes and ensures appropriate fertilizer and pesticide applications.
• Evaluates product performance and makes recommendations.
• Enforces and maintains industry safety practices including adherence to relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintains Kentucky Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Applicator License.
• Performs supervisory duties within area of responsibility including; making daily work assignments and ensures proper completion; providing training on turf grass management techniques; recommending disciplinary action; participating in hiring decisions; giving effective feedback on performance; and authorizing leave time.
• Maintains golf course irrigation and drainage systems. Responsible for troubleshooting pump houses, piping, wiring, sprinklers and controllers.
• Inventories, orders, repairs and installs irrigation and drainage systems.
• Ensures watering objectives are met.
• Responsible for proper winterization of system.
• Maintains adequate inventory of fertilizer, herbicides, and fungicides and other related supplies.
• Assist with repair and maintenance of mechanical and motorized equipment used on the golf course including golf carts and mowing equipment.
• Works with Golf Pro Shop staff to ensure smooth golf course operations and minimum disruption to golfers.
• Maintains a clean, neat appearance, while adhering to all dress codes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree required.

• Minimum of two years of golf course maintenance or related experience required
• Must have knowledge of bentgrass, Bermuda, and other turf grasses.
• Must possess supervisory skills and be familiar with the operation and maintenance of all types of equipment used on a golf course.
