Administrative Assistant, Senior

Coordinates and manages offices activities and workflow processes to ensure smooth efficient operations within the department. Performs administrative support duties and makes work related decisions in accordance with existing policies and procedures. Position may oversee the work activities of lower level support personnel.

Daily Operations

  • Acts as liaison with other departments, faculty, staff, students and external organizations.
  • Administers and coordinates department activities, office services and the work activities of lower level support personnel. Assists in the development and implementation of office procedures and work schedules. Plans, schedules and facilitates meetings.
  • Composes, formats and types correspondence using PC applications. Responds to inquiries regarding department policies, procedures and functions.
  • Monitors, complies and interprets department budgetary and financial items.
  • Assists Office of the Controller and staff with administrative tasks and operation of programs, activities & functions.
  • Assists Controller with special projects.
  • Ensures that office systems are in good working, and organized condition (copiers, computers, phones, etc. and that supplies are ordered in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of institutional policies, procedures and organization structure.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in various PC based applications including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and organize and prioritize duties with minimum supervision.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong composition and editing skills. Good organization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of four (4) years of related experience is required
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of related work experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.
