Position Summary

With approximately 300 music students, The University of Denver's Lamont School of Music in The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is a highly selective and nationally renowned music program. An accredited institutional member of NASM, Lamont is distinguished by an exceptionally talented and diverse student body as well as a faculty recognized nationally and internationally who tour, record, perform, publish, present scholarly work, and compose at the highest professional levels.

The Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver seeks to hire adjunct instructors for the 2023-2024 academic year to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses. These may include, but are not limited to, studio instruction in multiple music styles, ensemble directing or coaching, and academic courses.

Essential Functions

  • Provide instruction in academic classes, ensembles, and/or applied music
  • For faculty offering studio instruction, assist in auditioning and recruiting students
  • Grading student work which encompasses, as applicable, assignments & exams, juries, and comprehensive assessments related to degree completion
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • For faculty offering studio instruction: ability to recruit students
  • Teach and work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and staff
Required Qualification
  • Master's degree in Music or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education
  • Regional, national, or international reputation in area(s) of expertise

Course Rate

The course rate for this position ranges from $824.00-$10,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
