Position: Union - Underground Helper (UIE)

Location: ORANGE-UIE-CT-OPERATIONS
Responsibilities
Some responsibility for proper handling and use of materials and equipment on the job. Major responsibility rests with others. Probable damage is moderate.
Constant care necessary when driving truck or operating equipment to avoid injuries to others.
Generally responsible for own work.
Cleaning manholes, shoveling snow, picking up tools, and cleaning up after jobs involves disagreeable features of both underground and outside work.
Exposure to accidents, hazards, partially incapacitating in nature in case of a serious accident.
Responsible for safe operation of motor vehicles, derrick, pulling equipment and other equipment and tools. Major responsibility rests with others.
Skills and Requirements
High School education or equivalent. Use ordinary arithmetic. Up to 1 year experience.
Refer to and interpret drawings, sketches, written instructions, and work orders. Use measuring tools, mobile data terminal, and instruments. Must obtain and maintain CT Commercial Driver's License.
Perform a variety of basic duties in the Electric System, mostly in helping to pull cable, wires, handling tools used on job, helping to make job site ready, including traffic control, and cleaning up afterwards, cleaning out manholes, shoveling snow and other similar work assignments.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Some judgment to interpret and carry out instructions under minimum supervision. Care and dependability to perform duties efficiently.
Aware of day-to-day activities of Hazardous Waste Management System and oil spill clean-up procedures.
Qualifications
Moderate physical demand: effort to drive vehicles, operate equipment, and to handle tools, materials and equipment varying in size and weight.
Continued mental or visual attention to carry out instructions, perform duties efficiently.
Outdoor work in all kinds of weather.
Probable damage is moderate.
Avangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties. This is applicable to employees that will work in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York within AVANGRD Network and Corporate functions. This does not include those that will work for Avangrid Renewables
